May 22, 2010. Techulon, Inc completed a very successful exhibition at the American Society for Gene and Cell Therapy annual meeting held in Washington, DC this week. There were over 1700 Doctors and scientists in attendance, participating in 106 symposia and presenting 947 oral abstracts and posters. Our discussions with the attendees revealed a need for our Glycofect biodegradable transfection reagent and over half of those scientists contacted will begin immediate evaluation of Glycofect .
April 30, 2010. Techulon Announces the Close of Second Financing Round. Techulon Inc, a privately held life sciences company headquartered in Blacksburg, VA, announced today that it has successfully closed its second round of financing. The round was fully subscribed and will provide the Company with funds needed to expand the market for its new Glycofect transfection reagent through 2010. The Company shipped its first orders for Glycofect in mid-April, and is finding a strong demand from cell biologists and other investigators involved with primary cell research.

September 1, 2009. Techulon is pleased to announce that Dr. Josh Bryson has joined the company as Principal Scientist. Dr. Bryson received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Virginia Tech in August of this year, and will work at the company's headquarters lab in Blacksburg. His area of study was biopolymers with a focus on imaging and transfection and he will continue to work in those areas at Techulon. Dr. Klaus Wiemer, Techulon's chairman, said "We are pleased to have a scientist of Dr. Bryson's caliber join our company. His knowledge and experience will benefit us greatly in our biopolymer business". Techulon president Frank Akers said "Josh not only has a wealth of knowledge in polymer chemistry but is also a hands-on person who can make things happen. I am delighted to have him join Techulon to launch our biopolymer business."
June 1, 2009. Techulon announced today that it has leased office and laboratory space in the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center, and that it will be part of Virginia Tech KnowledgeWorks. "The new lab is perfectly suited to our needs, and the KnowledgeWorks environment will help us grow through convenient access to many support services" said Frank Akers, Techulon's president.
January 5, 2009. Techulon Inc is pleased to announce the formation of its Polymer Science Advisory Board. The new advisory group is comprised of prominent polymer scientists who are on faculty at Virginia Tech. The new board will meet twice a year to advise the company on opportunities and direction in polymers in general and in biopolymers in particular. October 25, 2008. Techulon Inc has named Dr. Klaus Wiemer as its Chairman of the Board. "Dr. Wiemer is a tremendous addition to the Board because he brings a wealth of experience in starting and growing new companies that will be very helpful going forward" said Frank Akers, Techulon president. Dr. Wiemer lives in the Dallas area and serves on the College of Science Roundtable at Virginia Tech. He serves on other company boards as well, and is involved in a number of charitable activities.
May 1, 2008. Techulon announced today that Mr. Frank Akers has joined the company as President. Mr. Akers formerly founded and was CEO of GoDigital Networks, a silicon valley venture-backed company that was acquired in 2006. Frank graduated from Virginia Tech with a BS and MS in chemistry and serves on both the Department of Chemistry Advisory Council and the College of Science Roundtable. He previously held engineering and management positions at ITT, Alcatel, Raychem and CTDI.
